1. What is Thnx?
Thnx is a simple system, based on tags with NFC or QR code. It offers the greatest chance of getting lost items back to you.
2. NFC? QR-code? What is that?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a technique that is built into more and more smartphones. You just need to hold your phone against the tag to read the information. You can recognize NFC by a symbol like this:
A QR code is a kind of complicated barcode, which you can scan with the camera of a smartphone or tablet. QR codes look like this:
NFC and QR codes are therefore both ways to read information with a smartphone.
3. How does Thnx work?
The moment a finder scans your Thnx tag, you as the owner will receive a message. You will see the find location via a push message on your smartphone. The finder can also send you a message, so you can make your own arrangements about how your things will get back to you.
Because most people are honest, you have the best chance that your lost items will come back to you simply and quickly.
4. What do you mean ‘the greatest opportunity’?
There are more than 5 billion people in the world with a smartphone. The vast majority of these people are honest and help someone else.
The chance that your stuff will be found by an honest finder is therefore already enormous. And with the Thnx tags you are giving that finder the chance to contact you directly, so you maximize the chance that your belongings will come back to you.
5. Should the finder also have the app? Or a certain type of smartphone?
No, the finder does not have to download anything. You can scan Thnx tags with any smartphone that runs on Android or iOS.
6. Do Thnx tags work on a battery?
No, that is one of the major advantages. A Thnx tag cannot become “empty”; it has no battery.
WHY THNX TAGS AND NO OTHER SYSTEM?
7. There are trackers, right?
There are more and more (rather expensive) systems based on GPS. But with those you can only determine where your lost belongings are. They don’t help you get your things back to you.
An honest finder can do nothing with it, because a tracker is one-way traffic. And an unfair finder has disabled or removed the tracker in no time.
8. Isn’t there bluetooth?
There are all kinds of solutions based on Bluetooth. Perfect for a bunch of keys or a wallet that you just can’t find. But the range of Bluetooth is very limited: indoors up to 20 meters; beyond that up to 60 meters.
When it comes to things that you could lose further away, Bluetooth is of no use to you.
9. What does Thnx cost?
To be able to use Thnx, you only need to purchase a Thnx tag (this is possible from as little as € 7.95). There are no further costs associated with the use of Thnx.
10. Are there no subscription costs?
No, there are no subscription costs.
11. Are there any costs associated with the app?
No, there are no costs associated with the app.
12. Are there costs if my stuff is found?
No, there are no costs associated with the match with a finder.
Although it never hurts to buy a little something and return something nice when you are reunited with your belongings.
13. Is there any personal information on the Thnx tag?
You decide what you see when someone scans your Thnx tag. And you can adjust it at any time. You can include your name and address details, your phone number or email address.
You can also decide not to show any personal information. For example: you go on vacation, and you don’t want to show your data, so as not to entice burglars.
The finder of your Thnx tag can still leave a message for you, which you will receive as a push notification on your smartphone.
14. Can the finder see where I am?
No. You get to see where the finder is, but no one can see where you are.
15. What do you do with my data?
16. The location of the finding is incorrect
Research shows that the finding location is accurate in 94.6% of the cases. But for this information, every Thnx tag depends on two parties: the manufacturer of your smartphone and your provider. This can lead to deviations.
The reliability of Thnx tags is not based on the exact location, but on the direct contact with the finder.
